Uses of Closed Cell PE foam

PE foam is closed cell foam which is made from Polyethylene and blended copolymers Closed Cell PE foam is a strong, resilient kind of foam which have a high level of chemically cross linked and the most widely available PE foam is known as non-cross linked foam. It is also known as PE foam or LDPE foam that is a thermoplastic which is blown into a foam format which results in semi rigid product of a uniform cell structure which is used in a wide variety of situations and applications.

Closed Cell PE Foam

Polyethylene foam have a property of buoyancy which is used in flotation equipment, and other nautical products. Closed Cell PE foam is versatile in nature which have a wide range of applications, from archery targets and long term storage. Due to Anti static formulation of PE foam it is also used for the storage, packaging, and transportation of sensitive electronics. It is an amazing replacement with many materials which includes neoprene, natural rubber, polyurethane foam, pvc, glass wool and many others.

PE foam is formed in a mould which results in foam sheet that’s called bun whose length, width and thickness depends upon the density of foam. Polyethylene and EVA Foam are considered very similar, however Polyethylene is firmer, heat resistant and the best is inexpensive than EVA Foam. It also offers a better compression set. Closed Cell PE Foam is closed cell is light weight and non dusting with excellent buoyancy having a high strength, tear resistant, resistant to chemical and grease resistance. A common classification of polyethylene foam is used in manufacturing industries having low-density polyurethane foam.

The structure of Closed cell PE foam is neither completely solid nor completely flexible, it has a semi-rigid structure. It can have textures which varies soft like urethane foams and harder like some polystyrene. In general it considered there are two types of foam one is low-density foams which is distinguished from one another by the process with which they are formed and perfectly suited for many industrial and commercial applications including Shock absorbent, Packaging, Buoyancy aids, Thermal insulation, Kneeling pads, as well as Acoustic sound proofing.

It is also made in an Anti‐Static formulation for the storage, packaging, and transportation of sensitive electronics. Closed cell PE foam insert differ from flexible foams, as their attributes make them suitable for heavy equipment, support and flooring and are waterproof buoyant which make them suitable for applications requiring a moisture barrier.

They have excellent shock absorbing capabilities and are resistant to most common chemicals. This foam is used as the classic blue camping mat or trampoline mats. It is an effective replacement for many materials including felt, neoprene, natural rubber, polyurethane foam, pvc foam, wood composites, mineral wool and fibreglass.
